celebrating diversity

We are called to continue to strive for a society of compassion, justice and good neighbourliness, so that Australia may take its place as a responsible participant in the international community.

The Christian faith speaks of a God who cares especially for the poor and dispossessed, and who holds before us the constant possibility of a renewed community. It calls us not to fear but to hope, not to suspicion but to trust, not to division but to a fresh discovery of all people as our brothers and sisters in the human family.

In the present atmosphere, we who claim to be Christians have a special responsibility to ensure our attitudes and involvements as citizens are informed by the faith we profess.

all baptised Christians belong in Christ's church and are welcomed at his table, regardless of their sexual orientation

The links at the left will connect you to pages at this site which are shaped by a vision of:

  • offering biblical perspectives on homosexuality and the Uniting Church
  • shaping justice perspectives of sexuality issues
  • coming out to new life for people and parishes
  • developing an affirmative and liberative discourse
  • providing models of understanding
  • providing basic facts about further resources, books and support groups
  • sharing liturgical resources
you are invited to join this online collaboration, send email of material or links to: uniting@rocketmail.com

The Uniting Church has not reached a consensus about all aspects of homosexuality. But it is clear that we are commanded to love one another. Love our gay and lesbian sisters and brothers, who are often sitting besides us, unacknowledged, in church, and everyone involved in this debate.
